Starting June 1st 2018 I’ll be attempting to hike the entire Appalachian Trail Southbound in under 70 days. Why Southbound? Excellent daylight length, peak warmth for most of the trail, and I’m most familiar with the Northern (and most challenging) section of the trail. Put that all together and it means I can hike swiftly in daylight for longer, carry less cool-weather gear, and get the some of the most difficult terrain out of the way immediately.
